One of the reasons RMRG works so well is that at the end of the day we are just a bunch of good friends who have a common interest, and we have a very good social side too. Our youngest member Shaun Whitehead attained his 21st Birthday on 16 March and we celebrated in good style. Whilst Shaun does model, he is also very much into matters 12 inch to the foot, and can be found when hes not at work ( He’s a second officer in the Merchant Navy) grubbing about under the Metro Cam DMU at the Worth Valley Railway, or alternatively at the Heaton Park Tramway, only grubbing about under trams. He also happens to own an ex Blackpool tram which will eventually come to Heaton Park.
So it was fitting that he had his Birthday bash at the tramway and we spent the afternoon flitting up and down on Blackpool 623, before getting the Metrolink from Heaton Park up to Bury and spending a very pleasant evening in the Trackside on the ELR’s Bolton Street Station before going for the inevitable curry!
Happy Birthday Shaun!
Not wanting to rest on our Social laurels, the group will be on the ELR and visiting the CAMRA pub of the year in May, and then off to the Isle of Man with a three day travel pass for a weekends transport fest trying to cram everything in!
